How Do I Use LATISSE?

Remember that LATISSE is a prescription medication, so do not attempt to use it without first consulting your doctor.

When applying LATISSE, use the single-use applicator that comes with the medication. As the name implies, each applicator should only be used once and should not be dipped back into the bottle after touching your eye.

With the applicator, apply a thin line of LATISSE directly to your upper eyelid, right at the base of your lashes. DO NOT apply LATISSE to the lower eyelid.

Be sure to remove contacts before applying the medication, and wait at least 15 minutes after application before putting your contacts back in.

If LATISSE builds up on your eye, simply blot it with a cloth or paper towel to remove the excess. Do not wipe it away.

If LATISSE gets in your eye, there is no need to rinse your eye or wash out the medication. It is safe.

How Long Does It Take to See Results?

LATISSE clinical trials saw full results after a 16-week course. Preliminary lash growth usually starts a few weeks into the course, but it will take a few months to get to maximum eyelash productivity.

Please note that if you stop using LATISSE, your eyelashes may return to their previous fullness.

Additionally, if you miss a dose, do not try to catch up. Simply keep on with the original schedule. The medication will still work.

Who Is a Good Candidate for LATISSE?

LATISSE is viable for most adults who want fuller lashes. It is fully FDA-approved for this purpose. Before committing to LATISSE, itā€™s important to understand the side effects and constraints.

People should not use LATISSE if they already use bimatoprost for glaucoma. Anyone who is currently pregnant or breastfeeding should also refrain from using the medication. Lastly, if you have any pre-existing eye conditions, consult your eye doctor before using LATISSE.

Are There Any Side Effects with LATISSE?

Common side effects related to LATISSE are minor, but they are as follows:

  • Red eyes
  • Irritation
  • Darkened eyelid skin
  • Darkened iris

Most of these side effects go away once you stop using LATISSE. Darkened irises were the rarest side effect, and such results might be permanent.
